Ludlow & the Marches Classic Tour 2026

Ludlow Castle Motor Club is delighted to present the Ludlow & the Marches Classic Tour on Sunday, 11th October 2026.

This will be our ninth Classic Tour. Although we skipped a year in 2025, many entrants contacted us to say they had missed the event. The break allowed us to keep the tour fresh and ensure it remains a popular and well-supported fixture on the calendar.

Shropshire boasts over 3,200 miles of roads, spread remarkably evenly across the county. We believe it has the second-largest road network of any English county, behind only Devon, making it an ideal setting for an enjoyable day's touring.

This year's route explores almost the entire Ordnance Survey Landranger Map 137, with only a brief excursion onto Map 138. Along the way, we also cross into Montgomeryshire in Wales. Here, the historic border follows a wonderfully winding course, and in the space of just a few miles we cross between England and Wales no fewer than four times.

Remaining true to our "Marches" theme, the route passes a remarkable variety of historic fortifications. Some survive only as ancient earthworks and moated mounds, while others remain impressive castles and fortified buildings, with a number still occupied today. A wealth of history surrounds us throughout the tour, and a glance at the Ordnance Survey map reveals just how many historic sites and landmarks are scattered across this fascinating border landscape.
